On November 10, 2023, the Utah Society of Mayflower Descendants held its annual Fall Banquet. Mayflower Cousins gathered at the University of Utah Institute in Salt Lake City to celebrate the Society’s 75th Anniversary with a delicious dinner and a presentation by guest speaker Judith Kay. Members and guests were welcomed by Governor Susan McEvoy. During the business portion of the meeting, members voted to elect two new officers: Deputy Governor Vicky Dewsnup and Captain David Wilkinson. The Utah Society thanks Former Captain Suzanne Taylor for her service. Assistant General Jill Dewsnup gave her report on the recent proceedings at the General Society of Mayflower Descendants’ Triennial Congress, and Historian Kevan Barton presented certificates to new members. Guest speaker Judith Kay spoke about various FamilySearch tools and other online resources which can be used to search for Mayflower ancestors. The evening provided members with a chance to enjoy one another’s company and learn how to hone their family history research skills. The Utah Society looks forward to seeing its members at the next banquet in May 2024 at the Sons of Utah Pioneers National Headquarters.
